Donna's practice focuses on the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing, use, and development of real estate.  She counsels individuals and companies on the negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, the analysis and resolution of diligence issues leading to closing, and the negotiation of leases for various types of landlords and tenants.  Donna also provides counsel on commercial and business law to clients in these and other industries.  She serves as a Deputy County Attorney for Fluvanna County.  She has been a partner of the firm since 1995.

Kristina counsels clients on various issues involving real estate, land use and zoning, estate planning, and general business law.  She has experience in negotiating the acquisition and disposition of real property, and in the administration of leases and contracts for development.  She provides advice to individuals seeking estate planning and administration services, and counsels small and medium-sized businesses on issues related to contracts, employment, commercial transactions, and other general business law issues.  She also has comprehensive experience in the procurement, negotiation, and implementation of local government contracts.  She serves as Deputy County Attorney for Fluvanna County.  She has been a partner at the firm since 2014.

Jeremy has worked as a trial attorney for over fifteen years in central and western Virginia, and has handled both criminal and civil matters in a variety of courts and jurisdictions. An experienced litigator, Jeremy is dedicated to his clients and to providing them with straightforward advice and effective legal counsel. Jeremy's practice includes civil and real estate litigation such as landlord/tenant disputes and land use/zoning issues, business law, estate planning, and criminal/traffic defense. Prior to joining Payne & Hodous, Jeremy served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in both Nelson and Albemarle Counties, and as an Assistant City Attorney in Lexington.  He serves as an assistant County Attorney for Fluvanna County.

FREDERICK W. PAYNE

RETIRED PARTNER

BIO
Fred founded Payne & Hodous in 1992 and retired at the end of April 2023.  He spent decades representing clients in state and federal trials and appeals in complex civil litigation, with a particular focus on real estate.  He regularly counseled clients on issues of law related to real property, land use, zoning, title, and local government.  He served as the County Attorney for Fluvanna County from 1985 to June 2023.  Prior to founding Payne & Hodous, Fred was a Deputy County Attorney for Albemarle County from 1974 through 1987, and served as Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Albemarle County in 1979.
